The main aim of the trip was to visit a friend who was working at the malaysian embassy in Toronto, Canada, experience the Niagara Falls and also drop in on my aunt in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Of course we saw plenty along the way lol. This time there was a whole bunch of us; 7 adults and 2 kids. We rented a dodge van and set out on what we termed as our 'great lakes' adventure. Canada was rather a surprise at first bcoz we never expected it to be so 'french', road signs and all!!
First big stop was..
Montreal - we wanted to see for ourselves the Olympic Park in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, home of the 1976 summer olympics. it certainly was quite a huge complex... especially the Olympic Stadium!! it was raining when we were there and the rain actually added to the look of magnificence & abandonement. sadly our tight schedule prevented us from going into the heart of the city.

Pic taken from the net.. i cant seem to find any of our montreal pics
Ottawa - the nation's capital and seat of government. i just love the Parliament Hill, its architecture has a certain gothic greyness that appeals to me. the parliament complex has several blocks but the tower clock or peace tower as they call it is at the centre. the city itself boasts of beautiful monuments and gardens, and the tulips.... its to die for !! the only other place to compare would be the Nedherlands itself lol. and theres also the boat tours at the Rideau Canal and Ottawa River but we didnt get to try any of that.

Parliament Hill & Gardens
Toronto - famous for its CN Tower, tallest building at 553m, situated somewhere in the middle of the city. the view from the tower is spectacular with Lake Ontario visible on one side. we did the usual sightseeing including the Ontario Science Centre. we were also very contented at that point bcoz after all our hard travelling, the friend we visited fed us homecook asian meals throughout our stay there lol

CN Tower & Convention Centre

Our gracious host in Toronto
Niagara - truly awesome place bcoz heres where the river falls in a spectacular display of power!! there were soooo many tourists there and so much to see and do. we did the boat tour, the maid of the mist thing and explored the area including the beautiful gardens and the Niagara Park Conservatory. this completes the Niagara experience for us bcos we did the american falls during the last trip.

The Gardens & Park Conservatory
Later as dusk fell, we couldnt resist making a quick stop at whitby's miniature village. everything was in mini size and it was fun running around with the kids feeling like clumsy giants. unfortunately, as of January 2006, the cullen gardens & miniature village was closed down permanently.
